Shhhh… I’m on a break
It is good to be back :-)
Planning the future
This is probably the first of a series of posts regarding my personal future not only as a Gentoo developer but as an individual as well :). However, this first post is not related to Gentoo so you may skip it if you expect shiny Gentoo news :)
It’s been a while since I found a job as a graduate student. My new job starts in October and I must say I am really excited about that :). So no more exams, no more studying of subjects that I am not particularly interested in, no more classes. I will be in Leeds for the next 3 years, doing something that I really love, and get payed. Awesome :D. I haven’t really started looking for an apartment yet but I plan to do so as soon as I finish with my exams. So if you have any info regarding apartments or anything else related to Leeds, feel free to leave a comment :)
Staying here for the next three years, implies that I have to get used to being away from Greece. Given the current circumstances, I must admit that I don’t feel sad *at all*. Ok, maybe a little… Greece is almost broke, because of incapable politicians and social services. This is why more and more young people leave Greece and go abroad. Greece is probably the only country that hates young people so much. It constantly refuses to “take advantage” of them without apparent reason. So, “immigrants” like me go far far away to seek a better future. Hey I am an immigrant :D. I am honored. No seriously, I feel so lucky that my parents provided me with all the means to go and study abroad so I can have a better future. At least a more decent future that I would ever had in Greece :). I am gonna miss Greece ( I will try to visit of course ). If only I could take all the people I love with me…
Random bits
Somehow I got inspired to write a blog post after listening to Hana Pestle – This Way song. What a beautiful voice she has!
It’s been a long time since I last blogged about anything. This is because life gets busier and busier. Besides the load of assignments I have to do for my university studies, I am looking for a graduate job for next year, plus I am trying to find a descent dissertation topic. Furthermore, I do try to plan my Christmas vacations which I will spend pretty much in UK. I am thinking of visiting Wales or Edinburgh for a couple of days. It should be nice. If you happen to know a good and cheap place (preferably close to train station) to stay in either of these two places please let me know.
Concerning Gentoo, I really try to be as active as possible. Thanks to Petteri for his patience and effort to train me as a recruiter, I already recruited two people so far. I also try to keep amd64 stable tree alive and thanks to our Arch Testers we are in a good shape.
Thats all from me so far. I really have to get back to studying now. I hope to be able to write a more interesting blog post next time :)
One step forward
I know I haven’t written anything here for a while but there was a reason. I finally managed to finished my thesis and done with my university studies. Now, I am officially qualified to wreck up your systems…
Damn, I am not a student anymore :( .
Apart from that, I had to pack everything (~40 boxes omg ) and move out by the end of July. I am moving back to my beautiful island which I miss so much. But not for too long. In three weeks I am supposed to join the army as a radio engineer ( or something ) until May 2010. Ok this sucks big time.
Anyway. I wont be around much but I am sure that our new (qt herd) recruits will do a great job during my absence.
